This position reports to Product Portfolio Manager Your role and responsibilities ABB Motion provides pioneering technology, products, solutions, and related services to industrial customers to increase energy efficiency, improve safety and reliability, and maintain precise control over processes. The portfolio includes motors, generators, and drives for a wide range of applications in all industrial sectors. In this role as ALS Technical Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting thefront-end sales activities with solid technical domain expertise in ALS applications, Drives, and Motors to grow our ALS business in a profitable way, combining technical expertise with sales skills to assist sales activities so we can maximize our Motion sales volumes for both products and services. Strong customer engagement and interface activities to bridge the gap between the technical and commercial aspects, working with customers to understand their technical requirements, explain product features and benefits, and demonstrate how ABB ALS products or services can address their pain points and needs. Your responsibilities: Deliver assigned orders plan for AE Motion in ALS segment for all divisions and across all allocated markets and deliver or exceed sales targets to increase Motion market share in ALS segment and support in pre-qualifying new offerings at end-user accounts. Work closely with the sales and business development teams to develop and implement ABB G2M models, sales strategies, and 7 habits for successful sales execution that incorporate technical insights and customer feedback. Work closely with the sales team to understand market demands, customer requests, competition status, SWOT situation, market prices, etc., and bring feedback with analysis and proposal. Develop a deep understanding of ABB ALS product portfolio and services, including their features, functionality, and technical specifications, and create technical proposals, compliance documents vs end users’ technical specifications, quotes, and sales presentations. This includes customizing existing products with the product development team to match customer requirements and ensuring compliance and accuracy. Develop cost estimates for new bids and contract revisions. Utilize engineering data, drawings, customer specifications, and related information to prepare cost estimates, RFQ purchase of components, evaluate and negotiate third-party supplier quotations, and summarize total cost estimates. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a technical resource throughout the sales cycle and beyond. Assist the sales team during customer meetings by providing technical explanations and addressing technical questions or concerns. This can involve live demonstrations, presentations, and preparation of technical materials. Collaborate with customers to understand their needs, pain points, business goals and provide technical guidance on how ABB ALS products or services can meet those needs. Work with customers and internal teams to resolve technical issues that may arise during the sales process. This may involve coordinating with the product development and drive integrators teams. Assist in tailoring products or services to meet specific customer requirements, which may involve coordinating with the product development and drive integrators teams for custom solutions. Gather feedback from customers and the sales team regarding product performance, features, and desired improvements, and share this feedback with the product development or drive integrators team for continuous improvement. Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, product development, project management, and customer service/technical support to ensure a consistent approach to sales for superior customer experience. Work model: onsite #LI-Onsite Qualifications for the role Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or similar. Minimum 7-8 years of experience in a technical sales or sales roles in the engineering industry; familiarity with sales processes and the ability to support the sales team in achieving sales targets. Comprehensive technical understanding of variable frequency drives (VSD) and drive integration including end-user specifications and related international standards. Solid technical understanding and experience in Artificial Lift Applications (ESP, PCP, ESPCP, SRPs&HPS) for both induction and permanent magnet motors. Fluency in both spoken&written English. Arabic language is an advantage. Experience working in cross-functional teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
