We are actively seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Officer with a solid background in school safety and expertise in ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge) regulations and standards. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include conducting risk assessments, providing training for staff and students, managing emergencies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive HSE programs, aligning with ADEK guidelines to ensure the highest standards of school safety. Conduct thorough risk assessments, audits, and inspections, addressing and mitigating potential hazards promptly. Collaborate closely with school administrators, faculty, and staff to foster a safety-conscious culture within the educational institution. Stay updated on ADEK regulations and communicate necessary adjustments to maintain compliance and excellence in safety practices. Other Key Responsibilities: Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and update health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure that policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Communicate policies to staff, students, and parents. Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Implement measures to mitigate identified risks. Monitor and review risk control measures to ensure effectiveness. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios (e.g., fires, lockdowns, natural disasters). Conduct and oversee regular emergency drills and ensure staff and students are familiar with emergency procedures. Training and Education: Provide training sessions on health and safety practices, including first aid, emergency response, and the use of safety equipment. Ensure that training is up-to-date and relevant for staff and students. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate accidents and incidents that occur on school property. Document findings and report incidents to the appropriate authorities. Analyze trends and recommend actions to prevent future incidents. Compliance and Regulation: Ensure that the school adheres to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations. Stay informed about changes in legislation and implement necessary updates. Health Promotion: Develop and promote health and wellness programs, including mental health support, nutrition, and physical fitness. Encourage a culture of health and safety within the school community. Facility Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of school facilities to ensure they meet health and safety standards. Address issues related to cleanliness, maintenance, and safety hazards. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and compliance documentation. Ensure records are organized and readily accessible. Coordination and Communication: Act as the primary contact for health and safety concerns. Liaise with local health departments, emergency services, and other relevant agencies. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents regarding health and safety matters. Requirements: Proven track record as an HSE Officer with substantial experience. Specific expertise in school safety protocols, with a focus on ADEK standards. In-depth knowledge of ADEK regulations and their practical application in educational settings. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Relevant certifications and qualifications in HSE. Certification in health and safety NEBOSH in School is preferred and Knowledge of OSHA. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. Skills: Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to conduct risk assessments and emergency response planning. Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing.
