Director of Strategy and Institutional Research American University of Ras Al Khaimah General Information About Institution The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent co-education institution of Higher Education that provides an integrated American-style, undergraduate and graduate education. All programs are accredited by the Ministry of Education of the UAE; additionally, it is accredited by the U.S. regional accreditation association, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). AURAK is a young and rapidly growing university located in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the Northern Emirates. Job Purpose&Responsibilities The Director of Strategy and Institutional Research is an adviser to the President on strategy, organizational effectiveness, and accreditation. The DSIR manages the implementation of AURAK’s strategic plan by ensuring alignment between unit plans and AURAK’s overarching strategy. The DSIR also develops and implements AURAK’s quality assurance and institutional effectiveness system, manages institutional licensure projects, and leads national and international accreditation efforts. The post-holder administratively oversees the staff assigned to the Office for Institutional Strategy and Excellence and ensures that AURAK’s leadership has information that informs positive decision making and organizational improvements within the institution. Minimum Qualification and Education Essential: Bachelor’s degree in organizational/educational leadership, business administration, computer science, curriculum studies, testing and measurement, organizational change, operations research or quality management. Quality assurance in higher education; strategic planning, institutional research. Desirable: Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields. Required Knowledge And Skills Knowledge of: Board governance; local, national, regional and international academic and non-academic assessment; strategic planning; innovations and change in higher education; current and best practices in higher education leadership and operational management; program development and instructional theories; budget planning and development; international development; and project management. Skills in planning, prioritizing, organizing, scheduling, event logistics, time management, flexibility, multitasking, communication, advocacy, negotiation, monitoring, analytical evaluation, and proficiency with SPSS/SAS and MS Office. Work Experience At least 12 years’ work experience in educational or administrative operations with some experience in Westernized and Middle Eastern settings. 5-7 years progressive experience in an academic and/or administrative leadership role in a medium to large sized public or private higher education institution. 5-7 years’ expertise in strategic planning, outcomes assessment, change management, and accreditation. Language Proficiency Required Native Language Fluency in English. Advanced proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English required. Basic/Intermediate proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Arabic is an asset.
