Position Summary:The Mechanical Engineer will be accountable to supervise a team of maintenance technicians and support staff to fulfill the day to day mechanical maintenance activities at the power and desalination plant. In addition to supporting the management of the major outages of the plant through the provision of a gas turbine long-term service agreement, ensuring that the plant meets Safety, Environmental, availability, reliability, efficiency, and budgetary targets.Functions/ Tasks:Safety at Work:- Ensure compliance of IMS.- Ensure a safe working environment for himself, his colleagues, and contractors.- Obtain a Permit to Work for each job as necessitated by safety procedures.- Ensure that all Method Statements, Work Instructions, and Procedures are followed.Maintenance Task Planning and Execution:- Ensure that maintenance tasks are completed by the Technicians as per Work Orders generated in CMMS.- Document maintenance activities in CMMS reports.- Ensure maintenance of all mechanical equipment is in accordance with OEM manuals and best practices.Equipment Failure Troubleshooting and Repair:- Be available for call-out at short notice for the 24-hour operation.- Conduct troubleshooting activities to determine failure conditions and rectify defects.- Report all rectification jobs undertaken.Root Cause Analysis of Failures:- Work with Plant Operations Personnel to resolve problems encountered with mechanical equipment.Reporting and Planning and Budgeting:- Plan and execute planned and unplanned jobs with the Lead Engineer.- Assist in outage planning and execution.- Participate in planning and budget preparation processes.Spares, Consumables, and Use of Tools and Equipment:- Maintain adequate inventories of spares and consumables.- Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are available to all Technicians.- Maintain and certify tools and equipment on a routine basis.Provision of Technical Advice:- Provide technical advice to colleagues and Contractors to ensure safety and proper execution of Plant Maintenance Practices.- Review and update task lists for equipment.- Address inconsistencies in CMMS scheduling, practices, and documentation.Staff Development:- Provide training to Mechanical Technicians on a range of mechanical equipment and Safe Work Procedures.- Deliver Technical Training on various modules related to plant equipment.Frame works, Boundaries, & Decision Making Authority:- Operate under general guidance of the Lead Engineer.- Plan and manage own areas of activity within policy/procedural boundaries.Accountable for Outcomes:- Ensure continuous on-the-job application of safety rules and HSE procedures.- Monitor and improve safety incident frequency and near misses.- Maintain high efficiency, quality of work, and accuracy in all activities.- Achieve targets related to downtime, documentation, staff feedback, and more.#J-18808-Ljbffr
