Job Summary: The Construction Engineer – Tunnelling, Rock Excavation and Anchoring is assigned to the field construction organization in coordinating the tunneling, excavating and slope-supporting activities of the assigned contractors works. Responsible for overseeing appointed Contractor’s job site Tunneling activities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor’s performance are in compliance with project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders.Major Responsibilities:Maintain Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy, and ensure contractor’s compliance to the project ES&H plans, site security plan, traffic plans, emergency response plan, housekeeping, fire protection and jobsite work rules.Responsible for construction oversight of tunnelling, excavating and slope-supporting activities and ensuring compliance of Contractor’s works are carried out as per schedule, and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards, and local/national regulatory safety codes.Provide engineering assistance to contractors, facilitate technical resolution, review change documents, ensure compliance to codes and standards, verify and approve installations as per the ITPs.Prepare/review field sketches and other construction deliverables including temporary facilities, temporary construction aid design/drawings prepared by contractors.Reviews specifications, contracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data.Coordinates with the Construction Manager on activities affecting the contract administration operation.Coordinates with engineering design on constructability issues.Ensure that the Quality requirements are met, and the works are executed as per IFC drawings, standards, codes, and project specifications.Identify and review contractors NCRs, RFIs, FCRs, or other change documents and its effective implementation to prevent recurrence within the project.Review and comment on the contractor's submittals, technical queries, field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts.Education and Experience Requirements:Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in tunnelling and excavation works including: TBMs, Drill & Blast, NATM, bulk-excavation and slope-support.Required Knowledge and Skills:Experience of working in mountainous terrains, in construction of region connecting projects such as roads, rails, related utilities and other infrastructures like camps, approaches, lifestyle buildings etc.A thorough understanding and experience of shotcreting, waterproofing and Secondary Lining to tunnels as well as knowledge of bulk excavation and slope-support systems.Awareness of required Standards and specifications applicable to tunneling works (BTS Specifications for Tunneling: Third Edition).Through understanding of international codes and standards of Drill and Blast Tunneling Works such as BS 6164.Has experience and knowledge in construction of large-scale projects.Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes as applicable, including various Safety procedures and practices.Knowledge and experience in the implementation of ES&H and quality management systems.Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred.Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor’s staff and field engineers.#J-18808-Ljbffr
